"Spark of Love Toy Drive" update
Earlier this month, Community Optimization featured a story about the 19th Annual KABC-TV Los Angeles, CA (a.k.a ABC7) Spark of Love Toy Drive and the many partners that were bringing this initiative to life this year. ABC7 took advantage of social media and offered several ways to contribute to the drive. Facebook members could do something as simple as "Like" the ABC7 Facebook page and a sponsor would match each like with a $1 donation to go towards the cost of buying gifts. With an initial goal of $70,000 likes, ABC7 increased that challenge to $80,000 after meeting their previous goal by the 18th. Just three days later, the ABC7 Facebook page reached 80,000 likes. Now a few days after Christmas, the drive is still going on. If you'd still like to participate, the Spark of Love Toy Drive is still taking monetary donations through the mail and online through the California Community Foundation.

Underserved children in Southern California see a "Spark of Love" this holiday season
Every holiday season for the past 19 years, KABC-TV Los Angeles, CA (a.k.a ABC7) and firefighters from throughout Southern California have teamed up to run the Spark of Love Toy Drive. This year, they are getting some help from local businesses and organizations such as Jakks Pacific, Mathis Brothers, Metrolink, Verizon, K-FROG 95.1, Temple-Inland, Improv, California Community Foundation, Xerox, Park Water Company, Aetna Medicare, and Rotary Club of Los Angeles (LA5). The drive collects new, unwrapped toys and sports equipment for underserved children in So. California. This year, there are seven ways to donate ranging from gift drop off opportunities to donating online. See the Spark of Love Toy Drive website for more information.
The Spark of Love toy drive is in its 19th year and still running strong. This campaign is an example of a lasting partnerships that has benefited children for many years.
